Superb Austrian flintlock hunter rifle by... - Lot 70 - Marambat - de Malafosse
Superb Austrian flintlock hunter rifle by Andreas Zaruba in Salzburg circa 1760. 28 caliber rifled octagonal barrel at the pound of 690mm long. Rifle buttock with three leaves including two folding ones, front sight on dovetail. All gilt bronze fittings with carved hunting decoration, bottom of the engravings matt. Back cover plate, notepad drawer in the stock. The long barrel mount (some minor accidents to the tile and to the lower wood setting of the lock) is in blond walnut and bears beautiful carvings highlighting the wood setting of the trimmings. Nice baroque thumb piece, palm rest trigger guard, double trigger. Flat body turntable, flat gooseneck hammer, iron basin from forge, drum spring screwed from the inside. Functional mechanism. With a rear rod. Beautiful weapon typical of the rifles in use in the middle of the 18th century in the Austrian Alps. (1-)
