Beautiful and rare pair of French pistols probably for revolutionary officer model An VIII. Conceived as model 1765-66 of smaller proportions (370mm long) for a calibre of 16 to the pound. Brass mounted weapons, large mouthpiece held by a pin, round barrel, round body lock, round espalet hammer, brass basin, retroused battery. Beautiful blond walnut frame. Functional mechanisms, springs with all their period bindings, very frank cock and half-cock notch. No markings except an IV under the barrels. Sticks present. A screw of square of hammer changed.
