Small smoothbore bronze barrel in 27 mm muzzleloading caliber by L CHOBERT in PARIS 16 Rue Lafayette as evidenced by the signature on the front of the light. Flared neck tube with tulip-shaped flared mouth. The junction between the collar and the flight is materialized by a hemispherical ring in strong relief, wide band plate, the first reinforcement of the tube joins the flight at the level of the trunnions, the bottom of lamp carries a strong button of breech of a diameter of 30 mm. The piece is carefully polished and in perfect condition, tube length 500 mm. Attractive dark wood fixed gun mount without wheels (minor restoration to the front), 4 brague rings, two brass ramrod waiting caps (ramjets missing), high-pointing screw mechanism passing through the junction beam of the two sides of the mount. A similar cannon was positioned on the 2nd floor of the Eiffel Tower, firing a blank shot every midday. The opening of the 1889 Exposition Universelle and the inauguration of the Eiffel Tower were also marked by the firing of the Chobert cannon on the tower (Status 1).
