Versailles cavalry carbine model 1793. Manufacture Impériale de Versailles in baton letters. Receipt "E.F." on the front of the light. Receipt marks on the barrel flanges: "F" on the left, upper mark illegible. Barrel dated 1809 on the right side. Octagonal barrel flared at the muzzle and rifled to 13.5mm caliber. Round gooseneck stock, brass bassinet, battery spring screwed on from the outside. The foot of the master spring resting on the nut was re-shaved a long time ago and incorrectly positioned, partially clamping the cocking notch. All brass fittings. Brass buttplate. Two very discreet grooves on the counterplate. Varnished walnut frame. Light gunstock. The steel parts are in their original finish, free of polishing, pitting and oxidation. Rod attached.
