Beautiful Versailles infantry rifle to AN XII regulations, m - Lot 142

Beautiful Versailles infantry rifle to AN XII regulations, manufactured in just over 2000 examples only. Strong octagonal barrel, flared at the muzzle and rifled with 7 deep basket-style rifling in 13.5 mm caliber. Engraved hallmarks on the three thunderbolts (barely legible), date on the right side under the rise "18XX" (2 numbers not legible, the last of which appears to be a "1" or a "7"). Lock signed "M.RE IMP.LE DE VERSAILLES" in baton letters and stamped "DB" (Bouyssavy"). Brass bassoon, battery without stretcher, espalet hammer. Beautiful varnished walnut frame with left-hand cheekpiece, extended by a tile to the muzzle and pinned to the barrel. No hallmarks or markings on the right side of the stock, but two stamped letters at the top of the stock collar. The entire gun is brass-mounted, except for the barrel sling (iron). Functional mechanism, regulation iron ramrod. (Condition 1-)
