Exceptional field case for a pair of flintlock pistols by Nicolas Boutet. The blackened wooden case, whose edges are highlighted with floral patterned wallpaper, contains mounted in the English style on a bed of Empire green velvet a beautiful pair of pistols. Octagonal barrels with flared mouth, finely rifled with 8 hair rifles in ??? caliber. The sides of the barrel are engraved with beautiful letters "Boutet" on one side, "Director" on the plate and "Artist" on another side. The three sides of the barrel are engraved with "LC" (Leclerc canonier) and "NB" (Nicolas Boutet). Slight checkering of gold thread inlay marking the junction between the thunder and the tail of breech. Fixed rise, front sight in half-moon derivable on tail of arronde. The barrels are secured by two drawers on a beautiful frame extending to the mouth in varnished walnut. Octagonal handle very arched and squared with a fine squared powder grain at right angle. Arms mounted iron, octagonal cap with sides, rosettes of counterplate screws with floral decoration. Two multi-faceted rod channels curved in their center, extremely discreet enture reinforcing the frame at the level of the rod channel on one of the pistols (without preliminary breakage at the level of the frame). Wooden ramrod with bone tip. Flat plate body highlighted with a teardrop on the back. Signature in stick letters on two lines "Manuf.re Versailles". Flat swan neck hilt, jaw with the characteristic camber of Boutet's work. Bassinet iron with tight sides, light grain dressed with gold, battery spring screwed from the inside. Very careful burnishing of all the fittings, giving them an incomparable polish. One of the pistols has had the crack in its hammer body discreetly resoldered. Functional mechanism.
Total length of the pistols: 360 mm.
The cassette contains various accessories: steel bullet mold, rod, hardwood loading mallet, spring release tool, two multifunction screwdrivers (wooden pear-shaped handle), brass powder dispenser with boxwood pusher, pewter box containing bullet puller, flint knives etc...).
