Beautiful court or society sword from the Napoleon III perio - Lot 116
Beautiful court or society sword from the Napoleon III period, triangular blade with three hollow sides, one-third blued and gilded, frame in cast bronze, chased and gilded. Four-lobed pommel, two leonine masks on the sides, two busts of Athena on the faces. A single, flat guard arm decorated with foliage emerging from a snout and joined to the cruciate guard by a fiddlehead scroll. Flat quillon engraved on the front with a Heliotrope flower, guard plate decorated with a dextrogyrated uncrowned imperial eagle on a thunderbolt, framed by a laurel branch and an oak branch. The spindle is covered with mother-of-pearl plates striated lengthwise. No scabbard (Condition 1).
