Very interesting German saber for the Reich... - Lot 123 - Marambat - de Malafosse
Very interesting German saber for the Reich Gendarmerie (German gendarmerie unit stationed in Alsace Lorraine between 1871 and 1918). Erfurt arsenal manufacture sold by Luneschols Solingen, Prussian receipt 1901 on back of blade. Gilded bronze mounting, guard plate with German heraldic eagle. Short-tailed cap. Single guard branch subdividing into two branches joining the plate motif. Fuse dressed in filigree shagreen bearing the monogram of Wilhelm II. Very interesting reception on the inside of the RG guard. 70 for Reich Gendarmerie. The absence of the letter "B" allows this fine saber to be assigned to the dismounted gendarmerie. In its leather scabbard, however, the saber has the same reception on the chape RG. 70. Overall length: 750mm. Condition 1
