Beautiful town sword from the mid-16th century. Long 6-sided - Lot 125
Beautiful town sword from the mid-16th century. Long 6-sided blade with a gutter at the top of the blade, marked "IOANNES" on both sides. Iron-mounted weapon, multiple branches, very strong pas d'âne overhanging the ricasso of the blade in front of the guard branch, this hand position being reinforced by an interlacing of secondary branches (some to be refastened, as is the foot of one of the pas d'âne). Engraved oval pommel with raised rivet, spindle decorated with a complex filligrane of steel wires. One of the quillons is missing, no scabbard. (Condition 2) Total length 1100 mm.
