Superb French town sword from the first half... - Lot 132 - Marambat - de Malafosse
Superb French town sword from the first half of the 18th century. Superb triangular blade in its original finish, wide at the base with three hollow sides, engraved and gilded with an interlacing motif in a cartouche. Superb reperce-worked iron mounting, symmetrical bivalve bridge with strong donkey step, forward-arched quillon, oval pommel with prominent rivet, openwork hilt branch in the middle. Complex filigree, with slight damage to the surface layer of one of the scrolls. In its black leather scabbard, broken at the junction with the bolt, three steel fittings with floral scroll engravings. The sword comes with a pierced steel bolt bearing a central oval cartouche decorated with a bignou player wearing a bicorne. The presence of the bolt is rare enough to be worth mentioning. Total length 1000 mm (Condition 1-)
