Nice large city sword from the early 17th century. Six-sided - Lot 134
Nice large city sword from the early 17th century. Six-sided, double-grooved, straight blade signed Juan Martinez en Toledo. Long escutcheon with six hallmarks on each side. Multi-branched skeleton guard. Grooved onion bulb pommel. Contrasting "S" hilt, fluted poppy head quillon. The centers of the hilt branches bear the same decoration. Each end of the spindle is finished with a filigree braid forming a ferrule. Spindle filigree with alternating fine steel wire windings and a wider filigree. Total length: 1150mm. One of the guard arms discreetly broken.
