DALĀ'IL AL-KHAYRĀT WA-SHAWĀRIQ AL-ANWĀR FĪ DHIKR AL-ṢALĀT 'ALĀ AL-NABĪ AL-MUKHTĀR [Guides to Blessings and Radiant Lights in the Remembrance of the Prayer upon the Chosen Prophet]. Algiers, Tha’libia Press of Kaddour Roudoci ben Mourad al-Turki, 1342 AH [1923–1924]. Small in-32 volume (112 x 75 mm) bound in dark purple morocco cloth, 320 pp., housed in a brown leather travel case adorned with cold-stamped fillets and fastened with a metal snap fastener. Spine with detached flap, partially missing; 2/4 of the stitches have come loose. ALGIERS EDITION IN MINIATURE FORMAT OF ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS COLLECTIONS OF PRAYERS IN THE ISLAMIC WORLD, compiled in the 15th century by the Moroccan mystic Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān al-Jazūlī, who died in 1465. A member of the Shādhilite Sufi order, al-Jazūlī compiled in this work blessings and prayers addressed to the Prophet Muhammad, traditionally divided into sections intended for regular recitation throughout the week. The *Dalā'il al-khayrāt* enjoyed widespread circulation throughout the Muslim world, particularly in the Maghreb, where reading it individually or in groups remained a common religious practice for a long time. Founded in Algiers in the late 19th century by Kaddour Roudoci and his brother Ali, the Tha’libia Press was one of the first Algerian publishing houses to specialize in the publication and distribution of religious, literary, and historical texts in Arabic. The book contains two full-page WOODCUTS (pp. 34–35) depicting MECCA, with the Kaaba, and MEDINA, captioned respectively “Makka al-Mukarrama ” [The Honored Mecca] and “al-Madīna al-Munawwara” [The Illuminated City]. INCLUDED is a SMALL ALGERIAN TALISMANIC POUCH made of green and ecru fabric, hand-sewn and embroidered, adorned with a crescent and a star. It was likely intended to hold a prayer, a fragment of a religious text, or a protective amulet. A CHARMING PORTABLE BOOK OF DEVOTION, preserved in its original period leather wallet-style case, in GOOD CONDITION.
